The Arthritis Walk® is the Arthritis Foundation’s annual nationwide signature event that raises funds and awareness to fight arthritis, the nation’s most common cause of disability.
The Arthritis Walk® kicks off in May during National Arthritis Month in more than 300 communities nationwide to fund arthritis research, health education and government advocacy initiatives.
Participants walk in honor of a friend or family member with arthritis. People with arthritis wear blue hats to signify their action in taking control of their condition. The event features a three-mile and one-mile course, KIDS ZONE, omelet bar* & tailgate area**, as well as arthritis information and activities for the entire family.
Walk with celebrity walkers Melissa Brunner from WIBW TV and Chelle Dell from KTPK 106.9 Country Legends as they lead the 2009 Topeka Arthritis Walk®.
Arthritis Exercise Program: Visit the Rebound Physical Therapy booth to learn more about exercise classes specifically for people with arthritis. Watch demonstrations of exercises that can be done at home to help relieve pain and joint stiffness.
Bring your dog to the walk and get free dog goddies and free joint checks for your dog from local veterinarians. Dog walk participants who raise $100 or more will receive a dog t-shirt for their K-9 walking buddy from Hill's Pet Nutrition.
Honoring Our Heroes: Senator Vicki Schmidt will honor Arthritis Walk Heroes. Walkers with arthritis will receive a blue 'Hero' cap or a 2009 Arthritis Walk® pin.
By joining your 2009 Arthritis Walk®, you become a part of the Let’s Move Together movement, a nationwide effort that encourages people to move to prevent or treat arthritis. Start moving today for better health!
